NORTH BOTHELL LITTLE LEAGUE JR. UMPIRE PROGRAM
Introducing teenagers to the craft of umpiring with North Bothell Little League expands the involvement of our youth in our league, while creating a fun way for teenagers to learn leadership, responsibility, and accountability.
Whether a high school athlete, or not, becoming a Junior Umpire with North Bothell Little League offers teens a way to grow their self-esteem and gain experience in a fun, educational setting.
At the same time, teenagers are looking for opportunities to prove themselves and are often looking to collect civil service hours to be credited toward graduation and volunteer activities to build their resumés. Once these commitments are fulfilled, if needed, Jr. Umpires will receive a stipend of $50 per game as a Plate Umpire & $35 per game as a Field Umpire.
Communication with Jr. Umpires will start in early-mid February each year.
Each new and returning Jr. Umpire will need to successfully completes the application and background check to become a Jr. Umpire. With leadership provided through a NBLL's mentoring regimen, experienced Little League umpires will partner with theJr. Umpires. Together, in real-time situations, they will train and practice throughout the season. With comfort comes confidence. NBLL strives to have these new umpires become acclimated at a steady pace, while having fun. We make every attempt to avoid overwhelming them and we place each junior umpire into an environment where they can become comfortable with the game from this new and different perspective.
