NBLL PARENTS ROLE
Sports Parent Code of Conduct Form
NBLL Volunteer & Spectator Code of Conduct
Watching our children learn, compete and improve in the game of baseball or softball is fun for all parents. Unfortunately, youth sports can also bring out the worst in adults. It is important that parents are involved and informed in their child's experiences in the league, but NBLL also believes the role of a parent should be one of love, care and support.
Parents/Guardians are not participants on their child’s team, but they contribute to the success experienced by their child and the team. Parents/Guardians serve as role models for their children and their attitudes are often copied by their children who look to them for advice and approval. Become aware of this situation and work to be positive models. That includes, most importantly, showing good sportsmanship at all times to the coaches, league officials, umpires/referees opponents and teammates
All coaches are volunteers and are here to help make your child’s experience a positive one. They need your support to do so. Encourage from the sidelines, but don’t coach from the sidelines.
League Umpires are not the “bad guys”. They are Volunteers or part of our Jr. Umpire program. They need your support and encouragement. Treat them and their calls fairly and respectfully. Remember, children reflect the attitudes and conduct of their parents, so keep your sideline behavior positive and supportive.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email at [email protected]. Thank you for your participation and let’s have a great season on the ball fields
