North Bothell Little League

2009 Season

Baseball – Year in Review:

319 players (Down 85 players from 2008)
28 teams (Down 7 teams from 2008)

T-ball: Played all games at Rijo Athletics turf field, where there was no dirt for the kids to play in. Lesson learned: If possible, have Tball, Collegiate and Softball – Farm divisions practice and play games on all turf fields.

Minors: All five Minors teams advanced to single elimination round of the end-of-the-year Tournament of Champions, with Joe Petritz’s Angels team taking the Championship for the second year in a row.

Majors: All four Majors teams advanced to the semi-finals of the end-of-the-year Tournament of Champions, with Tom Gray’s Mariners team winning it all.

Juniors: It was a rough start, but we found a manager for our 80 ft which now allows us to better compete with select programs in the area.

9/10 All Stars: District 8 champions, Tied for fifth in state with Alderwood Little League
10/11 All Stars: 4th in District 8
11/12 All Stars: 3rd in District 8

Without a doubt, this was our best All Star finish in a long time, maybe ever!!!

Softball – Year in Review:

99 players (Down 6 from 2008)
8 teams (Unchanged from 2008)

Minors: Our Minors Thunderbolts team, coached by Jim Powers, finished second out of roughly 15 teams in the District 8 northend end-of-the-year tournament.

Junior / Seniors: District 8 combined the Junior and Senior programs into one to allow our 16 and 17 year olds a chance to play ball this year. In the end both teams made it to the championship game, where Mike Lindberg’s team managed to defeat a tough Gary Kruger coached team.

10/11 All Stars: District 8 champions
11/12 All Stars: 3rd in District 8
Juniors: District 8 Champions, State runner-up
Seniors: District 8 Champions, State Champions, Tied for 4th in Western Region
